Need More Mini-Pets.

I am sorry but ANet, such a bug should have been fixed by now.

This horse has been killed over a dozen times now. In the Vizunah Square mission you get a death wether you skip the cutscene or not. Very nasty bug that it seems A-Net and NC-Soft have decided to ignore. Best advice I can give is to start a character in Profecies (asuming you have that one) and go for survivor there. It may take a bit more time but it is safer and if you can time it right you will not have to fight the PVP part when you leave the pre-searing. I know of several players that have lost the Survivor title due tio that mission and it is to me a waste of tim,e trying to get it in factions unless you go out of your way or even have good guildmates to assist in the endevor. No matter what you decide to do good luck and I hope you eventualy get it.

Imho starting one in Nightfall is the best choice to go.
Higher rewards, less annoying enemies and you start with a 4 man team straight away.
My Para is still going strong and almost rank 2

I have three Legendary Survivors, all of whom safely completed Vizunah Square.

My advice is that you play with only heroes and henchmen, and if possible enter the mission at an unusual time of day for your continent. Two out of three times I ended up with a full hench party on the other end, allowing me to circumvent the cutscene death entirely.

Note, however, that if you are paired up with other players, don't abandon them and restart the mission. That's just rude and disrespectful. Suck it up and play.

It's very interesting that they just now comment on this, since it's been around since Factions release, essentially.

It's not the death scene that probably killed you, but the minions attacking you for four or five minutes while the scene played out. They do do damage, even if you don't drop dead on the floor during the cutscene.

Yesterday doing Iron Mines someone didnt skip the infusion cutscene and we pulled in Azure Shadows with us (someone ran to the alien dude), they we're whacking on us the entire cutscene and at the end we were all at various stages of near dead. No one actually died, so I cant say for sure if it can happen, but you can certainly take damage during cutscenes.

There is one solution to this, don't allow mobs to attack us during cutscenes.

And Gaile, this is nothing new. This forum has seen countless threads on the same.

If you've made it to the mainland from Shing Jea, it's super easy to get to KC and from there to LA. Once in Prophecies you can make youre way to the desert ascension (which gives the biggest XP reward for ascending btw), and then start changing your professions. Also, the baddies in Prophecies don't jump to level 20+ as quickly as fractions, so your chances of making it through alive are much better. Just don't attempt the suicide method for the DUnes bonus.

Gaile,
I survived the Vizunah mission on my Mesmer (L2 Survivor at the time). However, being fully aware of the title killing bug, I closed the program before the death portion of the cut scene. And some will bla bla bla about your character is still in the scene so you can reconnect... I also immediately opened GW and did not rejoin the party. So I effectively completed the mission and made an end run around the cut scene mass murder. I don't suggest anyone do this mission(with a survivor) until A-Net posts a dev update confirming the bug no longer exists.

after you finish the starter island you can leave and go to either la or kamadan (where you can get heros).
You can change 2ndary professions in either the command post or the desert as well.
My still running survivor as skipped out of factions until they fix that bug....she's working towards the desert now.

If Togo or Mhenlo die and you fail the mission (Vizunah Square), does that give you a death against your survivor title as well? Just wondering.

I really wish Mhenlo and Togo (and for that matter, any other NPC healer) wouldn't heal the damn minions. It's annoying wherever it happens, but in that mission it can slow you down and make you lose masters time since those two need to be in a certain spot to trigger the mission dialogue events.

Simply closing the window will not trigger the option to reconnect, since the program has been closed properly. That's why if you want to force GW to allow you to reconnect to an instance you have to kill the process (under the second tab in the task manager), and not kill the program (people use this method for getting LDoA, since after reconnects the timer resets and they don't have to worry about being kicked off after 10 hours.

So unless they changed something to allow reconnects at all times unless you log out, even if the program shuts down in a tidy fashion, in the last couple of months, you will be able to simply close the program during the cutscene and it should avoid any deaths. Although, it's a lot safer to just take the character to another continent to ascend and play through that storyline. That's definitely what I'm gonna do with my rit.

EDIT:

That shouldn't give you a death. It'd be the same as resigning from a mission. Forced deaths don't register as a death to your character. All the reports of deaths during this mission seem to come from having an MM in the party (some people may say that they didn't get killed from minions, but there's just no way to tell, as you can't actually see who the minions are going for. Since a lot of people have been through this mission without a death being added to their count, it's gotta be rampaging minions).

Look, It's quite simple... you guys all claim that u die coz of the minions getting masterless... well unless shiro has übernecropowers and has veratas aura... i dont know any other way to get minions masterless than THE MINIONMASTER DIES... Did i just say 'die'? i think i did eh? Well, then its quite simple, u died in that mission coz of the cutscene, together with all the other people, including the MM...
And yeah, Anet shoulda fixed that long time ago... but beeing prepared for the survivortitle also means knowing what to do in missions. So i guess it's not entirely Anet's mistake... GL anyways dont know if your'e going to make a new character or not...

Happened to my ranger once in Vizunah Square. No MMs, no skip through last cutscene, and no death either. From all the sources, I concluded that the cutscene is bugged. However, skipping prevented that problem, so why not try that next time?

Either way, I remade my ranger in Faction again, she is almost to legendary survivor and already completed the entire campaign. I was rather fortunate to have a partner on the other side to help me skip the scene from that mission. Now I am a happy little goat.

Explain how you are sure that it wasn't them? You can only truly be sure of that if everyone skips prior to the scripted death occuring. Even closing out the window could leave the possibility of your character still holding the connection (reconnects addition from several months ago.)
5 out of 7 of my team skipped the cutscene.

With 'they' I assume you're referring to the rogue minions?
I'm sure they didn't kill me as I didn't die. Btw most of us did get attacked by the rogue minions but none of us died becasue of that. All of us did die during the scripted death, including both MM's

Sure minions can kill the surviver during the cut scene, but they need to target you from the 16 allies there. might just have been a bug that made the storyline death count i don't know, just good luck on future attempts.
I think this is what must've killed my surviver ...I didn't think cutscene deaths were still possible, this was iirc fixed many months ago.
I've heard some people in my alliance claim it could be possible for a person to loose all health during a cutscene, yet not visibly die when his/her health reaches zero. If this is true or not I don't know.

My surviver never died while playing but died during a cutscene..if this is a bug then it should be fixed. It's realy demotivating to see your time and efford go to waste in such a way.
For now I guess I'll just have to press that x in the top right corner everytime I finish a mission which does take a lot of fun from the game for me, having to restart GW and relog every time I finish a mission.

My survivor didn't get a death at Vizunah, but then I'm sensible and did it with heros and henchies.

I've had 3 characters get through Vizunah without any deaths. I also had one who died during the cutscene and it counted as a death, even with no MM in the party. It seems to be a random bug, one that I don't know how to reproduce, but it does happen.

Why would you even bother with such missions which pose a threat to a title like that. Just farm for it until it's maxed and you can die all you want.

I completed Vizunah Square safely with my Survivor and had Olias as a MM, but I did skip the cut scene. While working on my Survivor, I've gone with Heroes and henchies almost exclusively, with the exception of a couple of runs due to the missions being high risk. PuGs are too unpredictable and if I have to do a quick exit, I'm not screwing over anyone.
